The Ulama League of the Philippines headed by Aleem Ömar Pasigan concurred by the majority of the Ulama headed by Abu Ali Qadi in Marawi City and Lanao del Sur declared that Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated in the Philippines on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, the first day Shawwal. The declaration is based on the claimes that the moon was sighted in Cotabato¸ Zamboanga¸ Jolo and other places in Mindanao on September 29, 2008. Hower, Sultan a Cabugatan with the call sign of compound base said that moon was sigted in Dalipga, Lumbatan, Lanao del Sur more than seven min before sunset.

It may be surprising to all, but it has been announced here that moon has been sighted and tomorrow, Tuesday is Eid.

Tuesday is the first day of Eid Al Fitr, the UAE Moon Sighting Committee announced on Monday. The committee, headed by Mohammad Bin Nakhira Al Daheri, Minister of Justice, was quoted by WAM as saying that after a number of legitimate measures, as well as several contacts with neighbouring countries, it was established that Tuesday is the first day of Shawwal and hence the first day of Eid Al Fitr in the UAE.

This is an official statement for London which has been announced further to my reporting of Regents Park Mosque: "The Coordination Committee of Major Islamic Centres and Mosques of London has agreed that Eid ul-Fitr, will be on Tuesday 30 09 2008." Announcement about the crescent moon of Shawwal 1429 AH.
After investigating the sightings of the crescent moon of Shawwal and the many reports in some of the Muslim countries. After verifying these reports in accordance to the Shari’ basis, we can announce that these sightings are legitimate according to the great Sunnah and hence Eid will be tomorrow (Tuesday 30th September).

“Berpuasalah kamu karena melihat hilal (bulan sabit) dan berbukalah kamu karena melihat hilal. Jika terhalang maka genapkanlah (istikmal) 30 hari.” (HR Bukhari-Muslim).
